“What will they say, what will they think?”
Omg they will think I’m broke now, that I’m struggling financially?
Those were my thoughts for weeks before deciding to post a pair of slippers on the Facebook marketplace…
So much negative self-talk, self-judgement, feelings of shame…
When I noticed this emotion of shame I reminded myself that it’s true, maybe there are people who’ll judge you, but so what if they judge you?
What does it mean to you?…
What do their thoughts have to do with your actions?
So I asked my brain “let’s imagine one of my FB friends does judge me? What would you make it mean, brain?
Would you start thinking they’re right, and I’m wrong for posting the shoes on the Facebook marketplace?
Whose thoughts matter most? Who do you want to believe brain? Their thoughts or your thoughts?
That’s the dialogue I had with my brain before I posted the slippers…
Notice how I didn’t try to hide my emotions or numb them. I faced them, I allowed them, I got curious what that emotion of shame was guiding me to…
My life coach always said that the worst thing that can ever happen is a feeling…
Lesson: When you experience shame or any negative feeling, or resistance caused by fear of doing something,
Ask yourself “whose thoughts do you want to believe more in, other people’s thoughts or your own?
Which thoughts are more reliable? Yours or theirs?…
Shame is just a feeling/emotion that’s all..
